A friend has asked me to sell his car for him.

It a one owner 1989 420SL in bright red with beige leather, a rear seat and a hard top.
Covered 90,000 miles with no accidents or major failures of any kind.
Merc history for around the first 10 years.

My local dealer made an embarrassingly low offer and told me dealers arent likely to be interested in the middle of winter.

What is it worth and where are the best places to go?

many thanks in advance

Chris

£8.5k :(

He made it clear he just wasnt interested and didnt think I would have any luck at small independants.

Ive no intention of calling a main dealer.

I guess I either hoped someone here would show some interest or point me towards a classic Merc or SL specialist.

Car has a decent spec/colour combination on it, OK'ish mileage and its one of the last cars....downsides, lack of MB history after the first 10 years, the 420 is not everybody's favourite and bad time of the year to sell.

I reckon you should advertise it for @ £10,500 - £11,500 and see what happens.

In terms of where to advertise...I would try autotrader and possibly Mercedes Enthusiast magazine
