hey guys,

What a mission.... 5 hours in total....
Started with megs gold class wash, dryed with microfibre ( was a bit naughty and used the flexi blade in the really wet areas)
then clayed the whole car, it wasnt too bad, i was expecting alot worse, but majority of crap was as expected at the bottom of the car and the lower part of the bumpers.
Was hard going especially with the sun beaming down, but what a result, the car REALLY DOES FEEL LIKE GLASS!!!!!
after this MF all car again get all the bits missed whilst claying.
then to step 1 of megs 3 step paint cleaner. This went on and come off real easy, using as suggested the megs foam applicators.
after step one car was looking nice applied the megs step 2 the polish. This was thicker and bit harder to apply, was even worse removing real nightmare used a mf but needed to go over car about 3-4 times to get it all off.
Following expert advise i applied the NXT wax all over and let this dry to a haze before wiping off
finally applied step 3 the carnuba was, this stuff smells really nice, but was really thick and slightly difficult to apply compared to the NXT.
Took it all off and gave teh wheels a once over with clay NXT and back to black......

There are various websites that sell it. I got a MGuires clay kit which comes with a 'detailing spray' to use as a lubricant. I believe Halfords sell them too.
I figured as a first timer too, I wanted a kit with instructions rather than the raw materials.
I just clayed and then applied a couple of coats of P21 Carnuba ("Just" - took 2 days!) and the car looks and feels showroom again. Glassy smooth. All depends on the condition first though. Mine is 2 1/2 years old and kept clean and polished most of the time so there wasn't that much to clean off.

You can get the kit or as mentioned above you can buy it all seperate.
I personally bought the smooth surface Meguiar's kit which is 23 quid from Hellfrauds, but they have a buy 2 get 3rd free, so i got the clay, NXT wax and Gold class wash for around 39 quid.

You can also buy the clay and detail spray as a seperate kit which is 11 quid but halfords dont stock that around here and you would need to buy online or another retailer.

The clay really makes the car feel like glass.

The one's in Halfords are only 50 gram bars and are a bit small, you can have problems gripping them and if you drop it you wouldn't want to use it again on your paint work.

Thanks to Raj for the tip on Halfords 3 for 2, I spent an hour or 4 polishing my wifes car today. Here is a picture of the roof.

There were lots of finger nail marks around the door handles and the Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine did a great job of taking them all out. It also removed all of the road tar on the flanks (with quite a lot of elbow grease!). I finished it off with Extra Gloss Protection. Just in case you cannot tell the colour is Nighthawk Black Pearl (Honda)

Look how sharp the focus is on that tree reflection in the roof, I do not think that you can do that with a silver car.:( :(

Not used my pc much yet, got it a few weeks ago.
Have had a practice on my 2003 Vauxhall van with solid paint and my 1991 e36 with met red paint.
It is an excellent tool but needs practice to get the pc / polish balance right.

As I said I clayed my C class on Friday ready for a weekend of PC action but on Saturday my 4 yr old son broke his thigh bone :(
He will be in traction for up to 4 weeks (hopefully without an operation) so the car will have to wait even if it does look terrible after being clayed which takes the polish off etc.
