I have a 2015 SL400 and have just updated my SatNav maps.

Why can’t you drive it anywhere?

One of my nav’s has data from 06/07 and another probably 03/04. I’m covering nearly 30,000 miles a year and haven’t failed to get anywhere with my ancient tech yet.

Contact comandonline (forum sponsor) in lightwater surrey - they’ll tell you what you can and can’t do/uodate - they know more than Mercedes when it comes to Mercedes Nav systems.

If you contact comandonline, have your VIN handy so they can look up the build sheet for your car and see what nav system it has, then advise you accurately what is available etc.

It's possible - the last update for my 2014 C63 was in 2019. An expensive car in its day and the map updates stopped when it was 5.

What annoys me most of all is that MB bought the company that supplied the map updates, and promptly started discontinuing the updates for older cars like my NTG4 in the 2008 S204 and NTG2.5 in the 2008 SLK. I paid good money to have the S204 NTG4 HDD upgraded so it could accept maps later than 2015, and at the same time the latest 2018-19 maps were installed and I was told MB were still issuing updates for NTG4 - which has not happened!

If the rate of UK road building is anything to go by, then any sat nav made in the last 15 years should still be future proof for the
next 15 years
Not the case in Spain, I ran a 2008 Navigon system alongside a current Tomtom on an extensive Spanish trip early this year, and
at times could have been touring the moon according to the Navigon.

Quite a few Mercedes cars over 5 years old no longer get map updates, they don't announce it, they just stop being issued.
My 2016 C205 with NTG5*2 hasn't has a new map issued since 2020 for example.
