Hi,

I have a 1991 500SEC which I'm ashamed to say I have hardly used over the last year. I took it out of the garage today to try and clear the place up a bit so that I can actually do some work and when I was putting it back in I noticed that it was slow to engage drive. I put the lever into D then after about a second or so it engages with a pronounced clunk. Is this likely to be because of lack of use and will clear, unfortunately I can't take it for a run as no tax/mot? Should I change the transmission fluid/filter?

The oil can drain over a period of time, I would not worry, if you do start the car up from time to time, let it run until it is hot, then turn off
