I'm rather sad to be bringing this car up to the UK and returning it to its owner for sale as I've got very fond of it's awesome looks, comfort and power. But apart from being on the wrong side of the road (which is a real bore for motorway péages) the French also cane you very hard for registering a big engined car.
I'm amazed though there's been little interest on the forum as I'd love it to find a good home. Just to repeat FSH from new, 92K miles; RHD; Blue black with mushroom leather. A couple of really tiny bodywork glitches (MB estimate here in France to rectify 350 euros, say £300 -though I accept it would probably be a touch more in the UK; Personally I wouldn't bother as they're barely noticeable). Interior spotless. Very good tyres. Other faults? The stupid Clifford alarm seems to drain the battery over a week so I use the isolate switch. (Maybe the battery didn't like spending three years in a garage here!). And there's slight vibration on high speed motorway driving - probably wheel balancing. And of course this engine never does any work.
So, leaving for the UK 5th August. Car with owner in Bicester, Oxford from 11th if anyone would like to inspect.
I realise these things are gas guzzlers but so are most big engined classic cars. Actually I drove round most of yesterday in it and only spent 50 quid.

Good to have the update. Surprising there is no interest. Might be a thought to do a search on 560s on the Forum. A number of people have aspired to these cars, and I am sure that there can not be huge difference in performance, especially negligible if your car is in pristine condition with modest mileage.

Just a thought.

You should move this post to clasified section as that may attract alot more attention than the general topic section.

Maybe best in both as some like me rarely visit the classifieds.

I suppose as I'm fond of the old motor I'd like to try to avoid it being shortened, lowered, painted, being given sexy new wheels and generally f***ed around with and gangsterized.
But you can't protect everything!

Hi Telle,

I would love to have it, and in my care, it would stay unmolested, but the budget can't take it at the moment. :(

Well White230CE, I don't think the owner is in a mad rush. The priority was to repatriate the car and get it into their UK garage prior to sale. She has no driving licence. If you think circs might change one day you could make contact with them. I bought my Alvis from her when her husband died on what I think we used to call the 'instalment plan!' It was buying that that introduced me to the SEC.

Thanks Telletubby. I won't really know till October, but perhaps I could pm you then, and if the car is still available, we can take it from there. :) In the meantime, what is the asking price for it please?
