Hi guys,

Has anybody got an SLK350 with the 55AMG exhaust fitted, if so how does it sound and does it add to the performance? Is it worth the extra £1300 my dealer is asking for?

Thank you all in advance.

I no nothing of the SLK but thats not going to increase performance and its definatly not worth £1300.

I didnt realise the 350 was so slow.. :D

As FBS says, it won't do a thing for you.

An exhaust is designed for an engine (especially AMG ones)

*IF* you could get one to fit physically then performance would deteriorate.

Malcolm (Television) posted an excellent link on here for exhausts earlier. A specifically designed exhaust would improve gas flow therefore, theoretically, performance.

Is it worth it is the next question? No answer from me there ;)

Thanks guys,

This was purely for aesthetic reasons though a bit of extra power and racier exhaust noise would have been cool. I have also discussed this with my dealer and have decided to keep the original exhaust.

I take delivery of the slk350 in March, I'll post some pictures then.

safe driving and a Happy new year to you all.

the SLK55 has a V8. the 350 has A V6. no matter what you do with the exhaust, it will not sound like a V8.

i have heard exhausts giving upto 10BHP more, but quite how an AMG exhaust designed for a V8 will help a V6 in performance I am unsure. visually you get 4 tailpipes rather than 2 tailpipes. It is never worth £1300.

I had a 55 until October. the 350 is quick enough as it is, so unless you want a V8 and the tiny gain in performance and lower fuel economy, stick with the 350 as it is.

Now if they did the brakes, thats a different story. the ones on the AMG really are impressive.
