I believe i need a height control valve/ lever which controls the self levelling rear suspension on my 1988 E reg 560 sec. Currently the rear suspension is too low and i occationally can hear a rubbing/ bottoming out sound when driven reasonably hard or just pulling away from a stand still, subsequently the front head lights are too high. If i can not find a valve is there an alternative solution to remedy this problem to lift the rear suspension?
Also what hydraulic pipe gauge i required to this valve please, cab standard 3/16 brake pipe be fitted? If not where can i bu the correct ppr?
I have been advised that the Mercedes Benz part number MAY be 2023200258? Can anyone PLEASE help me as I can not locate one. A used working example would be fine so long as there are no leaks etc. I have been advised that a 380 SE/SEL will NOT fit/ work correctly, purhaps some one an confirm this? I have placed a wanted ad in the spares section, but any help/ advice would be most grateful. I can be contacted on 07917 757433 or via this medium. Thanks in advance.

There are many reasons for the rear to be too low, the way to check is with a pressure gauge fitted to the height control device on the rear axle. Is the top up tank full in the engine compartment

Hi sorry i have not replied sooner, but i have been ripping out a back boiler (in our house in Skye). The tank under the bonnet appears to be slightly low but not by much. The height control lever appears to be quite loose with no resistance. When I bought the car is "squeeked" when downward pressure was applied to the rear, so i sprayed the lever with wd40 to help the movement and quiet it down. Do you/ anyone think I need a new valve and if so where can I buy one at reasonable cost other than MB? Thanks
