I think my 1990 560sec is experiencing a fuel shortage. It wears down the battery trying to start it and when started it does not respond to the accelerator very well it seems to stall. I had a quick look around the engine bay for an inline filter but couldnt see any on the lines. Another thing I noticed is when the ignition is turned on the fuel pump can be heard running which normaly cuts out shortly afterwards but sometimes keeps running until I turn the ignition off. Could this be the reason for the poor start up?

Any comments/suggestions would be greatfully appreciated.
Regards
Mike

Not sure about an SEC but on many MB's the pump and filter is located under a plastic panel under the car around the offside passenger footwell area. Big things they are..

A known issue with many models is the fuel pump relay so it may be worth checking the relay first.

Cheers Spike that could just be the problem, just to find the relay now.

Fuel seems to be getting to distributor under air filter when ignition is turned on. Does this eliminate faulty relay?
Already posted a fuel trouble shooting question, just awaiting a reply.
Cheers Spike
