62 MERCEDES C180 AMG SPORT PLUS OPAL FIRE RED PEELING

Hello please can anyone help me!!

Bought my Mercedes just over a year ago now all has been well, apart from the last couple months I have started to see that the paint is peeling away!!. The lacca seems to just keep peeling and peeling off. I have seen a lot of people with this issue online and was wondering how I can resolve this, I do not want to pay ridiculous money to fix it myself. It is a 62 plate and I don’t think this is acceptable at all from Mercedes, they know this is an issue!!

Has anyone else had this problem and how did they resolve it. Will Mercedes respray my car for free? I think they should as this is extremely poor manufacturing from Mercedes.

Hi Welcome to the forum,

Yes very common problem and as you say Totally unacceptable.
Does your car have Full MB history?
Where did you purchase it from?

Your first port of call is your local MB dealership, they will take photos and put it through for a warranty claim.

The good news is MB are now doing the right thing with this Well known issue, and offering Full re-paints, on all body work parts (not the plastic bits).

There is a member on here who’s car is currently in being rectified (I can’t remember name ) but a search should bring it up.

Let us know what progress you make.

Hello guys

The car does have a full service history, But the lastest service since I’ve owned it was not with Mercedes unfortunately. But hopefully this won’t matter as changing air filters and putting a bit of engine oil in has nothing to do with paint job, so hope they don’t try that one on me. I purchased the car from a car trader in Dartford which wasn’t a a dealership as this was almost 1k cheaper at the time.

Glad to see they know this is an issue and are doing a total repsray on that guys car and hopefully that’s what they will do with mine.

I am taking it to Mercedes tomorrow to see what they say. Need it sorted as eventually it’s all going to peel away!! Quite disappointed in Mercedes with this as I do really like the colour. Do wish I got a different colour now and won’t get a red merc again lol.

I will let you know my progress.
