I have c220 62 plate 100k miles, the car was fine then all of a sudden lost power and smoked like a chimney blue smoke and knocking noises, stopped the car the AA guy came and had a look, he asked to start the car but like for 10 seconds it was smoking and running really rough and no power, also a loud squeeking knocking noises was happening then goes then happen again.
The AA suggested it will need a new turbo and maybe an injector no engine light came on and no fault code was found, got towed home I tried my icarsoft v2 without starting the car only position 2 no fault code!
My friend is a mechanic he came to my house the following day, started the car and the same thing happen the oil filler cap when he removed there was loads of blue smoke coming out, then he took the pipe of the turbo to check for play and yes it is moving in all directions very very loose.
Now my friend think of the worst I might need a new engine as it sound to him like a cracked piston.
My question is can a blown turbo cause that much smoke from the the oil filler cap or the piston and rings are shot.

A turbo failure will not cause smoke from the oil filler and nor will it cause blowby.

From the excellent description you have given of the problems your engine has it does sound very much like some sort of catastrophic engine failure.

Could part of the turbo have broken off and gone into a cylinder causing secondary damage?

To do that sort of damage the piece would have to be quite large in which case it would be caught by the intercooler.

Thanks for the opinions and advice just want to add the car still starting every time if I try, will the car still with cracked piston? Also you would think the engine management light would come on

Yes it will start with a cracked piston.
No it won't necessarily light the engine management light. The EML will only light if it detects a sensor value out if expected range. If it has a misfire that may be detected. If fuel rail pressure were low or too high it would detect it. A noisy engine isn't something the sensors would detect.

What can cause this bad blowby from the oil filler cap and the breezer pipe is it only the piston and rings? Is it worth stripping the car down to investigate also I was thinking about compression test will that determin if one of the pistons cracked ?

You do need a compression test. It's the only way to see the condition of the bores, pistons and rings without a tear down.

I think that is my only option for now, I just like the car so much and it is in a good neck and would like to keep it

Update, just order compression diesel test from amazon it should be here by tomorrow, can anyone tell me what figures to expect in bars or psi from each cylinder? Also if it is bad news and I decide to strip the engine down and take the head off to inspect the pistons and the bores can i take the head off or the whole engine need to come out of the car to do that?! Just tried to find a video and just found one they were cleaning the manifold and they had to take the whole engine out of the car to reach it

I had a very similar fault on a w203 ! Rev counter hit end stop smoke out the rear and heavy knocking noise from the engine! On strip down found a problem with the turbo which caused all con rods to stretch causing pistons to protrude out of the block. It was to expensive to rebuild the engine, new turbo and possibly crankshaft problems.

I'd back the cracked piston hypothesis.
Its highly unlikely that all pistons will have cracked, so just do a comparison between all cylinders to determine which is the bad one.

Update: compression test done today took through the glow plugs

Cylinder 1 : 26.5 bar
Cylinder 2 : 26.5 bar
Cylinder 3 : 26.5 bar
Cylinder 4 : 28 bar

Does those figures looks normal?

They look ok to me. Number 4 is out from the others a bit but not excessively.

Yes seems normal, failed turbo can send oil through the engine but fairly unusual for it to leak into the inlet side.

Definitely take it to a garage for a second diagnosis, too many times have I had cars recovered to use with a "blown head gasket" diagnosed by the recovery company, only for it to be something else.

Can you post a video of the engine running?

I got the hoses taken off the turbo and before I only checked one shaft and was a lot of play in all directions and in and out but today I felt the second one as it is a bi turbo and oh boy it is 10 time worse the amount of play was unreal.
I am definitely sure the turbo will need replacing but what I can't understand how it can cause a very bad blow by from the breazer pipe, even now in order to start the car for inspection my friend (mechanic) had to take the pipe off as if I left it connected the engine will only start for 1 or 3 seconds max then cuts out I think it choke from the pressure and the smoke of that pipe.

I am not a engine expert but as far as I know or read blowby usually caused by bad rings, scored bores, broken piston or bad valve but you would think compression test ruled that out!

Update: today I changed the turbo and went to start the car, the blowby from the breezer stopped but unfortunately the noise still the same a very high pitched squealing whinning sound like metal rubbing, I took a video and I am posting it herehttps://youtube.com/shorts/88_7Vsc7SlY?feature=share

Just to confirm it is not the belt as I tried to run the engine with the belt off and the noise stayed the same.
