A few.
MB don't make ATF, they buy it from someone that does & put the price up.

The spec is the important thing.

MB fluids are supplied by Febi. If you look at the Febi bottles they come in, they are the same shape and size as the MB ones with a different sticker on them. You pay for the branding and not necessarily the product. So why is buying the oil from source such a big concern for some?

Some of you guys who look for cheaper products to use in a transmission that costs thousands to replace make me laugh, you'll put cheap stuff in and then moan about things when it goes wrong.

But if the cheaper product is exactly the same as the original minus its MB branding would you still buy the branded version? Even though exactly the same product is 50% sometimes more cheaper?

I don't think you have fully grasped the concept behind the whole 'spec' thing.

I would like some 236.10, loads of people using the .14 have said going back to the earlier .10 spec oil gives much smoother changes.

That is an amazing price! Wish I'd known about that last year...

So has using this ATF caused some issues with your gearbox? I too had heard rumors that the 236.14 fluid wasn't ideal for the 5spd particularly older more tired units. As far as I know it is lower viscosity and provides less drag? Not something you want to find out after spending £110 on ATF, against an aging car possibly worth less than £800 in my case.

Well after 5 years of being in business, I can report no reported transmission failures from using non branded MB oil!!

Hi Steve,

Would you recommend the older 236.10 for the 722.6 or the newer 236.14?
