Hi all, first time poster but long time reader - some great advice on here !
The auto box in my 1999 e200 has died - started getting notchy then developed a "death rattle" and stuck in gear. My local gearbox specialist tells me that it is beyond economical repair and a second hand box would be my best option. The gearbox fitted to the car is a 722.602 My question is does anybody know what other 722.6 boxes would fit or do I have to find a 602 version. A local dismantler has a 722.600 box from a 1997 e200 for £350 which I think is not a bad price if it fits.
For the record the car does NOT have a Valeo rad, has been serviced regularly by Mercedes and has never been used for towing so not best pleased at having the box completely fail at 110k miles.

I think you've been unlucky, the boxes can easily run past 250,000 miles.

I'd wait for someone to post back on this, the gearboxes are often designed for different engines and different power outputs so you need to be certain before parting with any money.
