Hi all, me again :) My lovely 'baby' is having a problem. Two days ago she was running like a plug lead was off, I checked they were fine. Yesterday still the same, drove 5 miles to garage, put LPG in drove out, she popped then stopped. Ah I thought, its that pesky pipe that I cant reach, rang the AA, the pipe was still there. He tried everything to get her started, she did start but as soon as you hit the pedal she died, had to get trucked home. I charged the battery up today and tried to start her again, same thing, she starts but and will idle a bit, if erratically, then stops. AA decided she wouldnt start on petrol but would on gas, today she started on both but totally undriveable as you cant use the accelerator, she just stops! My ABS light is on too although this has been on for a couple of weeks as it has done that before then goes off on its own so I've never worried about it, the car has always driven fine.

I know she's old now and I love her but I really think its time to let her go :( So I'd like to get her going then I think its best if I sell her to someone who can do the TLC that I physically can't.......sob

Now you all know I'm not mechanically minded so easy suggestions with diagrams if poss please :) Any help much appreciated as always :)

If your having ABS light problems change your OVP or possibly just the fuse in the top of it, its the tall silver relay by the battery, it might cure your idle problems too. pull the fuse and see if its blown.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try that now I know where it is, I had one put on a few months ago by a kind man off here :) Do you think thats all it may be causing the problem? I had the LPG looked at a few weeks ago and it was fine. xo

I've looked at the fuse, its ok :( I tried the car again today, still the same, she starts ok but if I touch the accelerator she stops. If I dont touch it, she waves between 5 and 10 on the rev counter for a couple of minutes then stops. I've had a look round but, to be honest, its just a jigsaw to me, oil and water I can do np but anything else I'm flummoxed!

I really have to come to terms with getting of her and, of course, I'd get a better price if she's running :)

Thanks for your help and if you have anymore suggestions I'm just waiting to hear from you.

If anyone lives near Greenfield and wants to have a go at it feel free!! :)

I am betting the blowback has jammed the flap on the airflowmeter up againts the inside of the throttle body.

Remove the top of filter box and see if it's stuck ,then put a screwdriver or similar down and free it off, simple as that.
Or if it was a big blowback it may have split rubber manifold beneath
Non of the above are big jobs to put right.

Ok thanks for that, I'll get the manual out to give me a better idea of where your talking about, unless you have pics? I live in hope lol, I know I'm hopeless. You mean the airfilter thingy right? I'll give it a go and post back, thanks :)

LPG issue

Yes the big black oval box !
10mm nuts in centre and clips around outside. Just take top off no need to remove whole box.
Inlet is in centre with black LPG pipe going to it.
Stick screwdriver down there .you should be able to feel flap moving down if not it's jammed and needs a LIGHT tap to free it off.

Ok I've tried that, sorry so long in getting back to you, its been raining a bit. It didnt work :( and now I've flattened the battery again. She still starts but doesnt maintain. To be honest, I've lost heart and she's on Ebay (finishes tomorrow) I've got to move her from the kerb, very sad as I love her but I need a reliable car.

Thanks to everyone for you help, she needs someone who can sort her out and its not me :(
