Hi everyone,
Would just like to get your opinion. Considering the cost of maintenance, fuel economy, power, longevity, which is a better buy an 89 260e m/t with 50k kms or a 94 e220 a/t with 90k kms. Both cars are in very good condition. The e220 is of course more expensive.I know both cars have their own issues. Would appreciate inputs before I make the purchase.
Thanks,

I prefer a six-banger to a four, but performance is probably about the same considering the age difference and economy/reliability is probably better on the 220.

Id go with the 220 too. 50k in 17 years means that it hasn't really run and there can be more problems with a low mileage car than a high. Also, at that age you're goping to have more problems with seals and insulation degarding than you are with mechanical issues.
We had a 13 year old BMW 3 series. Had it from new and only done 60k in it's life. The interior was like new but the bodywork was falling off it and to be honest, whilst it was still reliable, that super smooth feel had long gone. Crying shame. Probably sounded good to someone on paper but it was a wreck really. On the other-side, a few panels, bushes and mounts and it might have been good again.
