Hi, I've recently acquired a set of 8Jx16 mercedes 8 hole rims. Does anyone know whether they will fit straight onto my 1993 320CE (Currently wearing 7Jx15 rims)? & if so, any thoughts on tyre size?

Thanks for any feedback.

Hi Jonmiller we have 8x16 wheels for the winter(Can't remember the name but theyre off a w211) and you have to be careful on the fronts.

When purchased the tyre size was 215/55 x 16 and this has no probs at all at the rear, but the fronts will catch the wheelarches under braking/cornering and we had to drop the size at front to 215/50 x 16 no probs now.
That size is quite rare and i believe it was only really fitted to the ford probe/cougar but someone will quickly point out how wrong i am.:wink:

Take a tip check the wheel clears the front strut (only by about 1/4 inch) before going to the expense of tyres (i cant remember the offset ).

Don't forget to tell your ins co about the wheel change too.

Don't mean to confuse you JMiller - I have 7.5J 16 ET41 with 215/55/16 tyres. Not sure if it makes a difference, but my C124 has Sportline suspension and I'm not aware of any catching on the front wheelarches. However, as Juddian states, there's definitely very little space between the edge/shoulder of the front tyres and the front struts!

the offset is the important part , mines running 17 wheels with 235/45 tyres on with no problems , although im not sure if it was modified due to the car being an amg offical conversion.

E Class
W124 1992 - 1995
PCD = 5x112
OFFSET = 35 to 38
