91 300TE Starts, cuts out, starts, cuts out etc etc...

Went to start the car this morning and she started well then cut out oafter 10 seconds. Starts again no problem but cuts out after 10 seconds every time. I can hear the petrol pump cutting out just before she stalls. Took out the fuel pump relay and looked inside but its a mass of solid state bits and pieces and way beyond my level of expertise.

I ordered a fuel pump relay but wondered whether it might be something else. Any ideas?

Hi Kieth, your engine starts on the cold start valve from the key, your fault can be checked out by measuring the voltage on this device when turning the key.
