Hi all,
I have had my E300 Diesel for over a year now & thought it must be time to sort out the alarm/immobiliser at last.

The car originally had some sort of scorpion alarm with total closure etc, but it hasn't worked since I bought the car. There are no markings on the fob, but I did a bit of research on the net & the fob looks just like a scorpion - not sure if it was a 915 or a 918 but it has the slider on the side.

I took the fob to bits & changed battery but it is cream crackered with what appears to be a film of verdigris inside!

I just use the key in any of the doors to lock/unlock.
If I hold the key in the lock position for a few seconds, all the windows & the sunroof will close (if open) so I know the wiring is still good.

I'm not bothered about trying to fix the old alarm as it appears that all parts may be obsolete (unless you know differently?) but would really like to be able to change it for a (cheap) up to date, reliable, alarm/immobiliser/remote door blip of some sort.

My question really is - how do I trace the old wiring for the alarm & what is the easiest way to proceed?

Do I just try & rip all the old stuff out & replace everything with new?
or can I mix and match with the outputs.

I dont want to start tinkering & find that I can't start the car, or cancel an alarm one day!

I have a friend across the road who used to work for a company that fitted alarms etc & he will help if required, but he is a bit busy at the moment so I would like to try & trace a compatable system & start the dismantling/retrofit soon.

Is Fleabay an option?? for a cheapo alarm, or am i opening a can of worms?

Any thoughts would be welcome.
Cheap is the watchword!

Maybe your alarm is switched off. If you have a Scorpion alarm then there should be a means to turn it on and of, do you have a round key similar to the one in small picture? If you do then there must be a keyhole for it at the Seiren, under a cap or in glove box or elsewhere in the cabin.
Is the battery inserted the right way round in the fob and are the contacts to the battery good?
Dose the red light come on (can be quite dim) when a button is pressed on fob?

Can’t help regarding the old wiring, not something that I would attempt myself.
