fill it up, see how much goes in, run till dry, check your mileage, then fill up again, check how much you put in again,

work out your mpg from this

Would not it best to carry a spare can of fuel when doing this

I did not mean literally dry,

Usually a few tries is needed,

I advise from petrol light coming on, fill up, drive then when petrol light comes on again, fill up, check amount of fuel filled, then work out your mpg

Cheers guys
Always carry a fuel can anyway (just incase)
Had the fuel light on the other day and took around £56 to fill, am assuming it is a 60ltr tank, but just wondered, thats all.
Averaging around 28-30mpg for a 1.8 (1994) so assume its around the right mpg

Well, I think my days in baseball cap turned backwards and driving a two seater on two wheels round corners has now gone, hence the decision to buy a MB, time to grow up (plus fact that we have a baby on the way! and the wife wouldnt let me put the new arrival in the boot!)
So have to be careful on the fuel now to keep costs down.
