Hi one and all,
I have a 1997 E 230 Elegance, (just got the ABS lights out and abs now works fine).
There is not a switch in my car allowing me to turn the traction control on or off. Occasionally (1 in 3 times approx.) after reversing for the main part, when I move the gear leaver to drive and put my foot down -quite hard, not too heavy- I can definateley hear a series of up to 8 loudish clicks, which sound like their coming from the rear diff. During the time when their 'clicking', the power is reduced by half, until the clicking stops, which usually takes 2-3 seconds.
If you have any clue as to what it may be, obviously, I'd really appreciate hearing from you, even if it's what you'dconsider to be too dumb to mention - you wouldn't believe what caused my ABS failure (worn plastic wheel inserts- that sit on the inside of your wheels / or maybe your hub - as they aren't really secured to any one part in particular.
So, thanks for having the patience to read my minor trouble.
Feel free to contact me on my home e-mail john.stewart4@homecall.co.uk
