99 clk320 loud tapping noise....HELP!

Hi, just looking for some help on this problem on my clk.

Basically, today i heard a slight tapping noise when i was on my way out & within about 10 minutes it was as loud as an old fiesta!

The tapping is only on one side, (V6) so i was looking for some suggestions on whats causing it.....

Ive thought of the usual, cam or hydrolic tappets, but i think its something like oil starvation/blockage? given the time in which it started. The car was fine yesterday!

Any suggestions will be useful, as i cant pay mercedes prices, so its a diy job

More information required on this, please.- Is it a tappet type noise, coming from the rockerbox, or is it a heavier noise coming from slightly lower in the engine. If the first then just a tappet starved of oil and rattling. new tappet required and sort out oil starvation. If a heavier banging from the Cyl Head could be a Piston Picked up ( part of the piston comes away and lands on the top of the piston) bangs on the hear every stroke, new piston and attn; to the Bore required. Could be either or neither, could be many things, suggest that you get looked at by a proffesional A.S.A.P.
