Hi all

Newbie poster here, so hi, hope you can help and hope I can help someday as well.

I have a merc, 190e 2.0 on a K plate, 115,000 Miles.

It was running fine, but due for a service, so I have changed the oil, air and fuel filters, new spark pufgs, new HT leads (the old ones were ready) and a general check round. After I had finished all this, the car worked fine. About a week later, just got in it and tried to start it. On the first turn of the key, heard a bang (not loud loud, but I "Think" it was a mis fire). The car will now turn over with no problems but will not fire at all.

I have checked all the obvious, leads, spark dizzy cap etc but still no luck.

Any ideas much appreciated and thanks in advance guys.

P ;-)

Is it sparking? Take a plug out and rest on the engine so that you can see it sparking (or get someone else to check).

Any warning lights?

It could be that the crank sensor has failed, this would result in no spark.

They are chains, have a look throught the filler cap while someone turns it over and see if the chain and cams are turning.

Check the plastic hose/pipe hasnt blown off under the inlet manifold, have a feel around under there and see if its back fired and poped off, this can cause it not to start.

Smart + others :)
underneath the inlet manifold/plenum chamber, you will find a pipe that might have become detached. just reconnect it. :)

When you switch the ignition on you should hear the fuel pump run for up to ten seconds then stop check this before you go to start.

The important thing is that you hear the pump run, I'm quoting what my 190e does .The fuel pump relay controls the pump.
