Hello all

I purchased a 2019 c220d cabriolet this year, after selling my 2017 BMW 330e (which was also a decent car). Overall, I'm loving it, but I do have a few "quality issues" that have surprised me. I have the grey "leather" alcantara seats and despite only covering 22k, the colour has worn and the leather started to crack. Never happened with any of my previous cars. Does anyone have any advice on how to sort this? I've attached photos to show the issue... 1000016427.jpg 1000016427.jpg 1000016425.jpg 1000016427.jpg

Yes I know, it's absolute garbage. Hardly used and it's falling apart. Any advice?

Welcome :)

I'd consult a seat trimming company or a detailing company for their advice. I get upholstery from boats trimmed all the time and it's amazing what these guy can do. Where abouts are you maybe someone could recommend?

I replaced the seat base cover myself in mine.
Part was about £250 from Mercedes if memory serves.
Straight forward job. Took about an hour.
I watched a YouTube video 'how to' first.

In my first MB, a 2010 Eclass. 200. The driver's seat had ripped apart at the stitching, crossways. When I pointed it out to the salesman, his response was " take a look at the MBs we have in stock ( Quite a few as it turned out) " most had this Artico splitting or tearing problem. By 2014, the problem seemed to have been resolved, and by 2018 (present car) I sure as hell hope that it has been solved, and by now is a thing of the past!

This is why I always stick to leather interiors with any car I buy nowadays. MB may have batching problems with synthetic leather some cars don’t seem to be affected by cracking and others do.

Good advice above sorry to see this in what should be a ‘quality product’
