A Bot of Advice Please

BOT?! Oh dear, first post, third letter f***up.

Hello, folks. New here, and with good reason - looking at a CLK230 tomorrow, done me homework, just wanted to know if there are any areas I should pay particular attention to.

It's a manual C208 2.3 Kompressor Avantgarde, on a 99 (V) plate. Very high mileage but FMSH and one owner from new. P/X'd by said owner at his Merc dealership for a new toy.

Like the look, like the price (like I have a choice - this or a Micra), just want to be very thorough, despite the lifetime Merc servicing probably handling most potential issues.

Don't know how your get on with the box, any merc in my view should have a auto.

Just look VERY carefully for rust!

I'm coming from the heavily modified GTR side (long story, I'll spare ya), so manual is my preference.

and you're just along the coast from me... That's potentially handy.

In the region of 200k, but price reflects that to my satisfaction & haggle leverage.

Unless all the panels fall off at 200,001...


Wouldn't even consider it usually except for the single owner and MB dedicated history.

Well, so much for that. FMSH actually first 3 years Merc, remainder regular but locals.

213k with car sold six months after last service (202k), according to onboard, has had a service in the interim but no papers or stamps. Returned from MOT with advisories on both headlamp reflectors.

Car had not been valeted at all, steering wheel controls greviously worn and sticky (ugh).

So left it there.
