hi all,can anyone tell me if there are any well known trouble spots for the w202 c-280 air con
as when i want really cold air it only is very slightly cold:???:
but hot and the middle settings and demist settings are fine:???:
ive had a look in the sight glass and no bubbles at all
also there is no increase with the revs(dont no if the Mercedes-Benz do increase when a/c turned on)
attached are the controls i have http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=4870&d=1206799592
any well known spots for leaks etc would be welcomed
having it regassed on monday with dye put in,but looking at the service book this was done last year as well, but ive only had her 3 weeks so dont no the outcome of it

I am not sure but I believe on yours the do speed up as the clutch engages,, though on later car is always engaged,, if it is low on gas thenit will not cut in

The leak test should tell all

Make sure that ambient temperature is above 4-6 C as around this point the aircon stops working to avoid icing up.

had it re-gassed and dye done today, they say there is no obvious leaks they can spot but the compressor does not cut in(ie revs don't increase),they then had a permanent feed to it and it started to work so they are saying its an electrical fault
but as a previous reply said it was cold today not above 5 degrees so would it work anyway??
but when i got in the car for way home it seemed to be working really cold air (alot colder than outside)
I'm tempted to leave for a couple of weeks to see what happens as i have to take it back for another check for dye
and auto electricians are expensive:confused:

There should be a pressure switch that will only let the compressor run if theres enough gas in the system it could be this switch, or they never put enough gas in it to activate it.
Or if they put to much gas in there could be another switch to cut out at too much pressure.

do you no where this pressure switch is??
i think it has the right amount of gas in as i no the bloke very well (been using him for years) and he made a point of saying he put the exact amount as manufacturers instructions

If fitted they will look like electric fan switches, the ones I,ve seen were fitted up front near the pipe work and AC rad

right I'm convinced its working now,i think it was as previous post Make sure that ambient temperature is above 4-6 C as around this point the air con stops working to avoid icing up
as it was very a cold day when he filled and put the dye in it did not get above 6 c where i am
put it on today on the way home and after 5 Min's i couldn't keep my hand in front of the centre vents for too long as to cold:):)
when i turn the EC button off you can hear something happening but no jump with the revs then roughly 1 min later with the air getting gradually colder out comes nice ice cold air, lets hope no leaks ,i am taking her back next week so he can check for leaks will let you no how it goes
thanks to all who replied:D:D
