I have a merc E300TD auto saloon first registered in 1998, and can I find a Catalytic Convertor for it at a reasonable price????? NO
The only reason I know that the cat is u/s is because it is rattling it's head off, and the fuel consumption (which is usually quite good), has increased.
If any of you boffins out there can help I would be grateful.

have you tried your local exaust centers for a universal catalist normally priced at around £100, but you need to do something asap before it costs you major money in engine repaires "cat bypass" till you can find one cheap enough,

Thanks for the suggestion, but have tried everywhere and nobody (except Merc themselves) seem to keep this cat. Merc are talking silly money.
What damage could it cause to the engine if I leave it until something turns up.
