a class not starting!!

hi there

can anybody help me my a class wont start , it will only start when it is bumped, but will not start of the key, i opened the starter cut out relay and shorted the termials and the car will now turn over but still not firing!

fitted a new starter cut out relay but still nothing, all fuses are ok!

is there a reset for the starter? anybody know?? or does anybody have the same problem!

Hi Scott
Please tell us the relay position, location and number if any.
If the engine is now turning over and not firing, it could be a fuel problem.

Your starter is fed from the key switch and isolated by the alarm, when you turn the key the 12 volts go to the starter relay and Ignition circuits, it would appear that there is nothing coming from the switch. the car will bump start as the engine runs fron the alternator and not the battery.

hi thanks for the replys!

the car will not turn over with the new relay in , only when i short out the old one cos i took it appart!
will investigate the key switch and see what is happening!
relay is in engine compartment, on passanger side, under plastic cover at bulkhead!

hi there relay number is 002 542 23 19!

my car now shows starting error on main disply, never noticed it till yesturday! will it be a new ignition barrel i will need?
