My brother has not long got his first car and managed to get him into a 2006 w169 1.5 A class, first front wheel drive merc we’ve owned in the family and I’m a bit stuck at how on earth you get to the spark plugs to change them. Any advice please?

Spark plugs can last upto 60000 miles. Why do you want to change them.?

I have not changed any plugs on a A class but I have changed loads on motorcycles. Most are hard to get at, you need correct length socks extensions.

Because the car is just shy of 60000 miles now and can’t see when they were last changed in the history. It’s starting to not start first time and I’ve done a full service except replace the plugs now, were only £16 from Mercedes so have them just need to change them over

Not starting first time can be fuel pressure related. Do you know if the fuel filter has been changed yet..?

I’m not to sure, again they are not expressive, where is it located on the car and I can collect one and swap it over. Just not very familiar with the model, always had a c class of some shape and form myself

Just following up on this, had the spark plugs changed, mileage of the car is 63000 so probably the original plugs, throttle response and mpg has improved greatly but occasionally it still refuses to start first time. Spoke to the Mercedes dealers today and they said the fuel filter / activated charcoal filter is a lifetime part and shouldn’t need changing, they are saying £43 for the charcoal filter but could this be the issue if they are saying it’s a life time part and no other fuel filter exists or has anyone else experienced any starting issues with an A150

I would remove the relay for the fuel pump to give the pins a good clean.
