A Class W169 1.5 petrol cold misfire

Over the winter my trusty old A class developed a bit of a misfire when cold when cold, typically under heavy load such as accelerating from lowish engine RPM
which in the old days would suggest plug /s , when the engine warms up a bit it typically disappears and behaves normally, the existing plugs were due a change and it had a new set of Bosh. The problem didn’t 100% go away but was improved , noticed after a couple of weeks standing its back again.
I looked for any stored codes and nothing there, in the past where a coil has been faulty it stored the code
Now i admit the plugs it had are just standard plugs nothing fancy.
Anyone had this before, a coil pack is some £150 a pop so reluctant to change if no stored codes

You have HT leads between the coil pack and the spark plugs on that? I’ve replaced lots for high load misfires

leads would make sense as that would not flag a code, but the coil would ?
