Being a man of my word, I thought I'd post a few pictures of my new pride and joy after it's had the full cleaning treatment. Clay bar etc etc, and I'm pleased with the way it's come up. It's nice to see it after a bit of TLC.

I now know it's a blue / black metallic body with Alto metallic grey bumper and skirts. As posted previously it's a Jap import and is currently on about 45,000 miles.

So far so good, taking it to a specialist near me on Monday to give it the once over, fingers crossed!

My only regret so far, is that I waited so long to get one. I'm sure my tune will change when things start going wrong, but for now I'm a happy bunny.

One question though, the alloys are "apparently" from a later model SL? Can anyone confirm this? This is info I got from the guy I bought the car from. I wasn't keen on them intially, but they have grown on me and I think I'll keep them, for the time being anyway.

I have the original 16" wheels if anyone is interested! I was going to post them on ebay but if anyone is interested let me know. Mixed tyres, 2 Yokohama's are fine, 1 is blown and the other 2 are basically old and a bit cracked. 2 alloys are mint, 1 has very light scuffs and the other 2 have slightly more scuffs. I have pics is you want to see them.

Jonathan.

Lovely car. Nice mileage. I would keep the alloys - getting the poorer ones refurbished will not be expensive and they will come up as new. I would also recommend stick to the original wheel and tyre sizes. I drive pretty quickly (you will enjoy that bit!), and have never had a problem with handling or adhesion, and the ride comfort is excellent.

It will be good to hear you views after you have had the chance to put a few miles on it.

I have had my (1994) car for 4.5 years now and it has been reliable - only one problem with ignition (possible under-use in winter) and a right lower ball joint replacement.

Hopefully, your fears about things going wrong will be unfounded.

Thanks for your comments!

Spent another couple of hours doing some "detailing" today. Fathers day, glass of white wine in the garage, selection of cleaning material, it doesn't get much better than that ( sad I know, but if we all liked the same things........)

Richard, I intend on keeping keeping the indicators and I agree with your comments, which is why I won't be putting a private plate on it. Other than the wheels, I won't be changing anything on the car ( cosmetically ) and may even revert back to the original wheels in time.

Alex, I think I might keep them. If I ever sell it, then I could return the car to it's "stock" appearance. So far, I have to say the ride is very smooth, obvioulsy I haven't got the 16" wheel benchmark but I'm happy with it so far!

Jonathan.
