Hello, everyone. A new owner of a 55 Plate W169 A180CDI Elegance here. I have issues. But enough about me, back to the car: The Heater/AC blower doesn't work at all. It's the soft-touch 12 position controller one, so I think it's safe to say it's not a resistor pack and must be a bit more complicated (Thanks, Mercedes!). Anyone have a troubleshooting plan/flow chart to help me find the reason with minimal fuss?
Also this car has the "COMAND" system in it, and I have questions about it: First, where is the Aux input for the damned thing?? It says "AUX", but I can't find a socket for it: Am I just being thick?
Second issue is setting the clock on the dashboard. The manual says it has to be done through the COMAND unit if fitted, but even when the clock in the ICE system is set the clock on the dash doesn't change, and I can't change it through the dashboard because the option isn't there because it detects the COMAND! Anyone got any ideas, because this one is doing my head in!

Thanks, as always, in advance.

Look at the fuses under the driver's foot.

I currently have the same with ours, it’s not the fuse, and even setting manually in star is won’t keep the time correct. It does have a parrot Bluetooth module and unika controller installed which might be somehow blocking the signal on mine, I’ve got to take the comand out unplug everything to see if it makes any difference.
If you do find a fix let me know as I’d love to sort mine too if it’s not my Bluetooth thing.
The AUX socket will be in the glovebox BTW

I remember reading somewhere about NTG2 date/time issue fix, but can't remember where :(
I think it was either MHH Auto or BenzWorld ... apologies for mentioning other forums here

Of course, the permanent solution is to replace the museum piece with something from this century:

A fair point. What do you suggest for the replacement? Bear in mind that I only paid 430 quid for the car and I have other issues, so no insane suggestions that cost more than 200, please.

There's always room for insane  but I'm looking at this one to replace mine, perhaps this summer - I fitted the current head unit in August 2017 and it's been faultless so far, but I like the new one's recessed display design:

It's the DSP-PX5-4G model I'll be getting.

... I suppose the current one will be for sale at that point ;)

Wow it looks nice. What is the unit and was it easy to install? I'd like to upgrade my stock unit.

Thanks :)
It's been three years, and I still like it ... and it's still flawless.

The unit was Erisin ES6982B, but it has long since discontinued.
The link I posted above, if still active, is a current model (well, it was two months ago).

Fitting is as easy as it gets, but the quality of these Chinese units can be hit and miss - as long as you're aware ...

It would be good to have a proper conversation with you sometime about all the mods you've done to your A class. I am an interminable tweaker so feel the bug biting me :). I don't want to throw to much money at a 13yr old car but some comfort mods would be nice.

Sure - once the COVID-19 madness is over, one of these GTG will provide an opportunity to chat about mods and everything else :)

Apart from purely mechanical stuff, which I know very little about, there's not much left unmodified in this car, haha.
From the bonnet badge to door handles' courtesy lights ... Most of these I've done myself, with exception of custom steering wheel and carbon fibre hydrographics.

Great I look forward to hearing what you've done. Did you fit the new head unit yourself?

Yes, the head unit, and all three cameras, connected to it - front, left and rear  ... there's also an Apple CarPlay dongle plugged into it:

Looks so cool. I've gone from a 2016 E class with full mutimedia package (bluetooth, sd card, usb etc) to the A class and my daughters are not impressed. So can you confirm you now have the following functions:

Bluetooth connect mobile phone for calls
Can you access contacts list and dial out
Connect android or apple phones via bluetooth for access to Spotify
I can see googlemaps in pic so is that the satnav option?
DAB radio?

Any other functions you enjoy that didn't exist with stock unit?

I think I'd like to try installing one of these so will be asking for your guidance and experience :)

Yes to all questions, plus you can have TPMS and basic OBD tech on the screen too, via pre-installed Torque Pro:

Satnav - the built in version is very good, with voice guidance and nice interface, etc - I tested it a few times and really liked it, but I'm so used to my standalone Garmin, I keep using it - I hardwired a permanent base for it, when I bought this car. This is an old pic, but shows my Garmin in place (on the right) with OBD data on display:

Head unit's built-in satnav app - "bench" testing before install in 2017:

The unit will also support separate outputs for rear display(s) and main screen, so you can have satnav on the head unit and a movie playing on the rear screens.

DAB radio is definitely a supported function, however I don't listen to the radio, so never bothered with that - it's a separate unit for about £27, if I remember correctly.

With the phones - only iPhones tried, but all mentioned functions are supported.

Music streaming: the unit can either use iPhone as a personal hotspot, or via bluetooth, or via plugin CarPlay (separate dongle), or you can add a 4G dongle to have it permanently online - useful for Waze, etc.

And a side one (I'm rather precious about my [summer] wheels):

I also fitted a front one, but haven't figured out, what for yet

Hello everyone and thanks for your help.
I ordered the chinese double bin radio as recommended here. Will that play apple carplay now or do I need some sort of dongle?
