The pair I had - I actually wore on construction sites (‘70s) (before mandatory steel toe caps) for several years. IIRC, I binned them when the soles wore out. They were tramped through mud and rubbish on a daily basis but got a good polishing every night.

The Redwings soles were a little thick for driving something like a SLK.

Plastidip it,it will withstand anything normal paint would maybe more but is removable should you change your mind or wish to sell it
