So.. My extremely generous employer has said he will buy me a van so I can use it to get to work and back instead of putting the miles on the car which is almost 100 a day. My question is which vans are the most economical. We have 3 at work a 18 plate transit, a 3m sprinter and a 4m sprinter. I think im going to be getting a small van as in reality it's just to get me up and down the motorway. Any suggestions?

I owned an 05 connect for 10 years cant fault them for reliability . Fuel usage was moderate, probably new engines are more economical. Some of the smaller Peugeots/fiat vans are supposed to go on the smell of the fuel aloneo_O Thats the one and only time you will hear me recommend a French vehicle:D

As I see by post above economy has improved if thats real world figures. my 1.8 TDCI connect was about 45-50 empty on a long run and around 35-40 local loaded. but I had a remap pushing it from 90 to 115 BHP which helped the economy

Remember a few years back, dropping an SRI engine into a Astra van was all the rave
The Isuzu 1.7TDI engine is/was an amazing engine. No idea what it was like on fuel economy bit I do know it would sit well north of 90mph and 5K revs from stone cold to stop all day everyday for over 100k miles :p:D:rolleyes:

More importantly it was the only reliable diesel engine fitted in a Vauxhall at that time:D

I had a Nova 1.5TD with the Isuzu engine early 90's. Sold it with 110K on the clock never went wrong.

Had Astra vans for work for years. 1.7 diesel. Not sure it ever reached 68mpg but was good on fuel, never went wrong. I did about 40k pa, the company replaced them every three years or 100k. No real problems with them, cheap tax at £30 too.
