A140 Door pillar trim problem

I've experienced a problem with plastic overlay to door pillars (see photo attached) can anybody suggest remedy? Plastic seems to have debonded from paint and has now rippled and torn. Question is can it be peeled of and replacement applied without damaged to underlying paint, should I just remove and paint pillar black or can I apply carbon fibre effect overlay which appreared on later models?. Any sensible suggestions welcome.
