A140: orange triangle with exclamation mark in middle!

I have the orange light (triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle) showing on my dashboard.
I don't have the manual to hand, what does this light signify, is it something to be worried about please?

This is the ASR/ESP warning light. Have you disconnected the battery recently?

Its to say the traction system is working, shouldnt be on unless you get the car out of shape!!

also check that the switch to shut the system off hasnt been accidentally pressed. although this should re-set when the ignition is switched off (unless the switch has gone faulty and is constantly switching the traction control system off!)
