A140 Problems

Hi I have a A140 1999 model which was running fine until recently. The rev count kept getting lower when I start it up in the morning but would pick up later on as the engine got warmer. This progressively got worse and the car now sounds like it's blowing or miss firing. NO matter how much I put the pedal down the rev count just wont go up or if it does it's intermittent. The "too much oil" indicator on the dash board came up and after reading through the manual I was led to believe it could be the catalytic converter which is causing these problems. I bought a new one had it replaced only to still have the problem persist. Am stuck with options and I was wondering if you could lend your expert advice on this matter.

Thanks for your time.

Have you checked the oil????

You need the codes read but at a guess I'd say air flow meter.

Thanks for the tips, other peoploe I have been consulting are offering the same advice. Looks like my next and only stop would be a dealership for diagnostics. Am told told replacement could easily fetch £ 600 not exactly looking forward to that bill.
Thanks again for your help.

No need to take it to a dealer.

A god independent garage near you should be able to diagnose it. (much cheaper than MB)

It may also be a throttle flap issue to.

Hi
Can you explain who put too much oil in. Did you top up the oil recently? When was the oil changed last?
