a140 vac valves on inner wings what are they for?

just wondered what the vac valves are for on either side of the inner wings on my a140 1999 automatic.

thanks for replies but...

mine isnt a turbo model. its just a petrol n/a. automatic.
i believe the vac valves are connected by a narrow bore pipe to the brake servo, as i have blown through the pipe connecting them.

The brake servo only has one pipe from the vacuum system,,there are two pipes that go to the headlamps

hope you donnt mind me asking these questions, but i cant find the handbook.!!

where is the adjustment switch then, please.
i have looked everywhere and cant seem to see it.

As I understand it there is a thumb wheel to the right of the light switch,,and this sets the headlamp height
