Hi,

I have searched the forums for an answer to this, but with no joy.

My wife's A150 (2005) has developed a wiper fault, the front wipers work fine on single wipe (push the stalk) and on washwipe (again push the stalk, but harder).

When you select any of the settings by rotating the stalk nothing happens.

Looking at similar issues on other models this seems to be either the stalk or the relay. I have taken the end off the stalk and had a poke about, but there is nothing to see, no burning or excessive dirt.

I have looked in the fusebox and cannot see where there is any wiper relay that may be at fault. I have to say I am tempted to think that as the wipers clearly work it would be more likely to be the switch that is at fault.... then again I am not an electician.

Anyone got any ideas, and /or anyone know where to find the wiper relay so that I can check that.

Thanks

Neil

Sorted, I hope

Hi,

I have been pointed to an indepenant merc specialist who will charge £60 to fit a new stalk (plus the cost of the part clearly).

I found the relay under the carpet and it looks fine. The specialist will check the relay, they can simulate a stalk motion using a computer apparently.

For the price, and given the steering wheel removal need for the stalk replacement, I am going with a pro on this occasion.

Thanks anyway

Neil

Steering wheels very easy to remove. Couple or torx to remove the airbag then one big nut! Just need to make sure that you keep the squib straight.
