The Mrs car - she claims the car 'jumps' away from rest and she has to slam the brakes on... she says all the lights come on and it 'looks' like the car has stalled - but it has not.

I have not had a chance to test this phenomena - is it a known fault or do we think that perhaps her technique is not quite what it should be?

On the odd occasion that I have driven it, all seemed perfectly OK.

I dove the thing from Colchester to Beckenham today (new tyres at costo on way home) Anyway - it was a bit jerky tostart with, almost felt like too much 'power' being paid down (-2.5 when I left) but no traction control light.

Withing a couple of starts from standing I had no problems - if I let the clutch bite once first had been selected and was very gentle on the throttle.

If anything, I think the throttle adjustment is somehow wrong. It seems to be super sensitive for the first part of the travel and progressivly less 'sharp' the further you put your foot down. This is noticeable in 2/3/4/5 gears.

Is throtle adjustmnet a known fault on A Class? Second, where on earth do you start, if this is the problem?

dunno sorry but you brought back fond memories of my Citroen CX2400 Family Estate 3spd clutchless manual. £700 and it broke down on the test drive. We still bought it and loved it.

I have had 9 Citreon CX's estates with the C-matic gear box and 1 CXIE with normal auto. Easy box to work on that C-matic, take the near side wheel off (no jack needed) take the end cover off gearbox and you could slide new gears in and out, just like that.

Great car's all time favourites
