I have been told my A170 cdi (2002) has 1 or 2 blocked injectors and the cost of repairs will be (approx) £800 -£1000. I have tried the Redex injector cleaners with no success. Has anyone any suggestions as the money is a real problem. The car runs very `lumpy` and sounds like a tractor on tickover. has anyone any advise PLEASE.......

Have seen dealers try allsorts in an attempt to clear injectors for one reason or another and they have all failed. Its nearly always in internal mechanical fault in them. Only answer to repair properly is to replace them. Sorry:neutral:

You cant have "blocked" injectors, as the car wouldnt run, undo one injector pipe while running and it will cut out, think you need someone who knows how a merc cdi system works!!!!

Got to agree with H/M, sound like new injectors needed, would need to see the car to really understand what is going on!

the car has 130k, it has been on the diagnostics which showed one injector very low reading (blocked injector), 2 cylinders fine and the forth very high reading. He thought that the high reading was due to it `over compensating` for the blocked injector. Either way it sounds like a Massey Fergusson and the wife is sick of it and giving me earache. trouble is the money. so far I have spent £40 on injector cleaner without success. someone said you could put the injector cleaner into the injector `neat` if this is possible? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Lloyd

Its not as easy as it sounds, plus, the new electronic injectors dont clean out like the older ones, some companies can re-furb them, that might be a cheaper way for you!

Hi there,
Just came from MB dealer and they want 1500 to replace my wife's A170 injector!!!

I cannot afford that for now!!!

Does anyone know if I can source it elsewhere asides MB dealers?

What causes the injector to go? Rich diesel? Running on reserve tank?
:(

Injector Problems

Wow,
I live very close to westhill!!!

Thanks!

The engine idles rough! but once it gets going, it's ok until I have to stop at the next light!

mpg is down too!

MB dealer says that there's high pressure in some of the injectors... They suspect air in injectors...

Air in the system would cause this, but with air in the system, your main fault would be non starting from cold! dont know any indis around dartford, only lived there for 30 years!!! maybe someone on the site will throw a name at you who you can trust!!!
