Hi,
I have a A180 2006 which seems to have dodgy front window wipers. (fuses checked all ok)
I've done a bit of internet research and it seems that proper attachment of the wiper arm to the spline stub if critical, and they do look a bit wonky when in the "rest/off" position. (see attached, i.e. think they should be horizontal and parallel)
My intention is to take them off and move a notch or 2 around the spline shaft to set a better alignment.
My question is does anyone have an knowledge of the wiper control logic? e.g. if the blades brush or catch each other during operation, do the blades shut down as a protection? and if so for how long? and is a ignition off/then on again required to get them moving again? Do they also shutdown if overloaded?
It's my wife's car and seems to have happen when a large-ish amount of rain or spray/splash hits the blades. This is either overloading them or getting them to touch when passing and hence causing the shutdown.
Or perhaps it's a known fault? e.g. multi function control stick, rain sensor, motor mechanism lubrication/wear/fault?
Regards,
James
