First ever post anywhere here goes ,V reg C class 180 ABS/ASR/BAS lights up all time ,MB dealer tested and said all ABS equipment had alarmed as faulty ,They cleared all except front right speed sensor.
How reliable are these diagnostics ,
How easy is it to change sensor
Will i need to have ABS reset once changed
Have changed brake switch and have checked voltage both OK
Have cleaned (Air jet) around sensor .
What goes wrong with sensor at it appears to a static device .
Fault occured a week after brake pads were changed

Thanks for the reply Malcolm.
Between the two which occurs most often .There appears to be some very bent wires inside connector.
What voltage do these sensors work on can i check it ?

Its easier to compare the readings from one side with the other

Malcolm and HMang again thanks for the reply
Decided that paying £50 for a new sensor was preferable to messing around with the wires as they are very hard to get at.Fortunately it worked .Though advice was that it would still need a reset at £50 on their machine .This however was wrong as when started the lights stayed on but when car moved 50 yards lights went out and ABS started working along with the ASR and BAS.In a state of euphoria i put it in for an MOT only to be told a rear spring had broken .Is this a common problem ? Had fixed at garage for £300 (total)both sides plus MOT throw in.
These speed sensors can i expect to change the others soon ?
Could i have broken sensor when i changed the pads as some light tapping was required.

Yes ABS faults are self clearing, though it will be logged.

Its an impossible question, it could have been slightly defective for some time.

The front ones can go because of the steering that moves them all the time.

It is not so common now and has no bearing on the others

Sorry about the springs. lets hope that you have many miles of happy mottoring

Tapper,

If you have any electrical problems give Phil James a ring at

http://www.car-electrician.co.uk/contact.htm

Very reasonable rates, excellent work and a very nice chap. He saved me over a thousand pounds by taking apart the ABS modulator on my 220cdi and resoldering the circuit board.

He also has all the Merc diagnostic gear and is just up the road from you in Finchampstead.

Highly recommended.
