Hello all, looking for suggestions please and some help. CL 216 series 5.5 2009.
Had this warning ( abs/esp in-operative - see handbook ) appear over a week ago, plugged in friend‘s OBD and detailed both rear ABS speed sensors ,replaced yesterday and since then abs/esp in- operative back on plus parking brake ( in red ) and run flat indicator now on as well and loss of power steering.Managed to clear them a couple of times but after a few hundred yards of driving all back on !
Any / all comments, advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Ricky

Did Yr diagnostics identify which wss was faulty or dirty. In my view the rfi is on cos the wss is reporting a different wheel speed than the rest .
The parking brake thing is a bit odd BUT I HAD Exactly THAT then my right wheel ss came up as faulty.

And your diagnostics shows no wss fault right. Drive down road with someone watching diag live data on wss see they all register similar speeds. Go from there

Hi , not had a chance to borrow OBD as yet and test.

Cud be 200o seems a bit soon. But maybe the metal is same chocolate that discs are now made from. Not too difficult to check if Yr faults are still showing where u replaced sensors, start with them.
I kept my old wss cos I not certain that dirt. Or reluctor ring was not the culprit we watch? N see.

Can't see why not if you have basic tools. Torx sockets ect I have not done it but won't be rocket science

Sounds a bit like what I went through 3 months ago, main dealer said it was rear sensors which they changed to no avail, they then said it was reluctor rings which they also changed to no avail, they then told me it could be the brake light switch, a £20 part and one hour fix, this cured the problem, the switch obviously does more than illuminate the brake lamps! The car is a cls320 BTW

Hello gliggsy,

thanks for your info.I’ll purchase a new brake light switch and keep fingers crossed.Really frustrating trying to eliminate different components to get rid of these warming lights !

Modern car electrics. Frustrating is the name of the game!!!!! Even the stealer are clutching at straws, at ur expense. They are for me the port of last resort..

If you have a wss fault they should know EXACTLY which one before removing wheel. I did. However diagnostics says no signal, not why. Cud turn out rr and not wss.
Aggro test, move wss from one side to other if prob migrates that tells you if rr or wss. Can save u £130. Origional or £40 febi.

Looked back thru a pile of invoices I received when I purchased this car because it had a new handbrake module etc @ c£1600 invoice.I checked to see if it listed reluctor rings on invoice, it doesn’t.Spent all afternoon today, removing back wheels , removing wss’s to check out reluctor rings. They are the ’smooth’ type and absolutely no corrosion whatsoever on either side.I am presuming they were maybe replaced with handbrake module ? I did give them a clean today while I had access.Fitted all back together, plugged in pals OBD and, came up with same faults left rear and right rear wss. Cleared codes, warning lights disappeared from dash , went for a drive, soon as I reached 15 mph ABS/ ESP warning on ( yellow) + parking brake warning light ( red) + run flat indicator ( yellow) back to square one !
Frustrating to say the least !
Couple of suggestions on forums could be brake light warning switch, called my local dealer this morning ( main) and he advised car doesn’t have a brake light warning switch ? Also checked this today and there doesn’t appear to be any sort of switch attached to brake pedal or locale That I could see anyway.

Can't say I know 4 sure but maybe ps looks info from wss? (speed sensitive??)
Where is car parked. Any chance of rodent damage to comms
4 sure in my instance wss brought about all issues u have incl pb. Wot I don't get is.. Has diagnostics indicated which wss is aledgedly defective? In my case it clearly said rh r then ten month later rf. However when I looked live data all showed good. I changed them both anyway. Issue gone. but I kept old ones to test on next failure.
