Hi all
I have a 2006 C180 Kompressor, trouble free for 18 months and do a lot of miles in it and it doesn't miss a beat, the auto gearbox is very smooth and the engine purrs. About 2 weeks ago I took a box of beef(work at a butchers) to a customer on my way home and one of the packs must have leaked as i started to notice a bad smell, I took out the back board and cleaned it but it was still there so I emptied out the spare wheel etc and scrubbed out the back with plenty of water and bleach, in fact i poured in the liquid and scrubbed so it got pretty wet, though i dried it off afterwards.
Once I set off a good hour after scrubbing it came up with ABS fault and ESP fault and its in limp mode, no gear shift and couldn't manually overide, I pulled over turned off and restarted but the same again, so i turned round and went back to the unit, i tried turning off and on while moving then the alternator light came on and straight off then back to ABS and ESP fault so I have left the car at work and come home in the van. Would it be reasonable to assume that because it was fine up till the point of scrubbing it out that I have got something wet?
Will it dry out and clear over the weekend or is it just a huge coincidence
Any help or tips massively appreciated

Well I'm guessing the bleach has probably done something no good to something electrical / electronic. I'd probably leave it a couple of days to dry out and then if no good it's probably going to need the services of a good Merc indy with Star.

It may be a coincidence which corrects itself after a few days drying out or it could be a faulty wheel speed sensor or rusted reluctor ring.
A visit to your indy with Star would confirm.

Just got to it this morning and still doing it, drove it round the ind estate and went into limp, definitely wet under the plastic in the boot as left a water trial when I moved it, for now disconnected the battery to reset computer

I think I have found the problem sensor and plugs wet through IMG_20231009_095910.jpg

A hair dryer might help dry it out but don't use too much heat.
Is that rust l can see in the pic? Looks like water has been getting in there for a while.

No it was just gunk, i dried it out took out the plugs and dried using kitchen roll, then a gentle run over with a heat gun to make sure all was bone dry, put all back together and fired her up....the ABS light came straight on but thought id run it round the industrial estate see if it went into limp. after starting it changed gear ok and at that first gear change the ABS light went out and it ran smooth as ever. Done a good 10 miles in it since without issue

I’d get some contact cleaning lubricant on the contacts and investigate the water leak now ;):)
