abs light

hello, i'm hoping someone can help my workmate.
he has an'89 200TE and he tells me that lately his ABS light has been coming on and the engine has been losing power. i don't know if there is more to the story but he says that once the light comes on, it immediately starts spluttering. the car is far from pristine but is running fine otherwise, so it may well be something that you or i would have looked at already so please don't be afraid to arm me with 'does it do this/ does it do that' type questions! thanks eveyone.

try the ovp relay located on the passenger side bulkhead

it will be the fuse or the relay for the cold start valve that is the problem,,,this can be found behind the battery,,worth a look.....

This does sound OVP as Ian says, there is a fuse on top of the relay, you should have 12volt on pin 30 and pins 87, these do go intermitant, but it can be tested out with a meter,no other way.

It depends on how many pins its got, if it has the same holder it will need at least as many pins, later versions came only with 7 pins I think.
