2009 E Class 211.
The passenger vent is cooler than the drivers side.
The rear vent feels colder still.

Is the duo valve just for heating?
Pointers of where to look appreciated.

AC gas level? when its low one side of the evaporator can be cooler than the other, if the way the air to one side of the car comes off the evaporator then it can do it...

most modern cars blend air and heat in a strange mix that can get muddled from low AC, lazy / broken heater valve, stuck, sticking, lazy flaps

Thanks, is the blend flap a common issue on these?
It's at 122k miles.

I've a record of the AC regas 4 years ago.
Pressure after an o/ night rest is at approx 2 bar, soon rising to 6 bar.
2 bar may be a little low, 6 bar is a little higher than I would expect.

I can see the blend flaps being a possible issue,
as yesterday the cabin was with a bit of a smell I can also imagine the evaporator might be some fungal growth.

What are thoughts around the spray in foam cleaners? has anyone had success with them?

10% gas loss a year is considered acceptable….

once its 10 years old it becomes 30% as the condenser is failing but no one wants to believe it...

the diff temp side to side is normal on a focus when low on gas

Is this to say that condenser are passing even though a nitrogen test doesn't show it?
Therefor replacement at 10 years or so becomes a reasonable strategy?

I meant by 10 years most issues with low gas are because the condenser is on the way out, it can still hold enough vac they go to the effort of refilling, but it soon leaks out again. then you top it up a bit for a few years and then cars in the skip before most realise they should have replaced the condenser years earlier

Giving this some extra thought.
Changing the condenser isn't a scary job or expensive, especially doing it DIY. Saving the cost of many regasses can justify it.
But if the same applies to the evaporator becoming somewhat porous I would find the job off putting.
