I bought a 230ce auto 1992, the accellartor pedal is rather hard and stiff. It's quite painful on the sole - any suggestions?

Thanks

The cable is relatively easy to change on this model - the hardest part is removing and replacing the trim underneath the dashboard! Once you have gained access to this area, then the route that the cable takes is easily reachable. Also, you're well advised to check the smooth operation of the mechanical linkage (there's not that much to it) near the throttle body, including the part that goes on to the auto gearbox.

Joe,

Get a really big pair of Caterpillar boots ! I'm joking of course.

Try and establish if it's a cable problem or if the return spring under the air filter pan is either wrong (too strong) or anchored in the wrong place. Generally speaking if it was simply a cable problem it would be stiff to push down, but wouldn't necessarily be hard on the sole of the foot thereafter, but would be slow to come back up.
