Has it had a new windscreen in the past, it could be the. Sensor has failed or just become unplugged, or has moved slightly on a replacement screen and can no longer see anything.

Or as in the case of my R class had the incorrect coding parameter set for the screen (screwed up auto wipers and auto lights).

Mine has worked once in 6 years everything else on auto works fine so MB had a problem with the headlight sensor function. I use the headlight flash on the rare occasion I want main beam, luckily the dipped beams are so good on these I don’t miss it.

To be honest I've only had it since 17th December so I don't know, all the supposed history that came with the car was hand written, on A4 paper in the same coloured ink..... so basically not worth a bean. It's going into an indie in Mansfield on Friday so fingers crossed they can give me a list of what's wrong with it.
I've got to the point that it might be uneconomical to repair it ☹

considering how much work you have put into the car to get it right, you may be near the end of fixing it all.

Mercserve in Nottingham are also very good and right down the A60 if you need a second opinion.

+1 on the above, seems you have sorted pretty much all the issues now, you should have a good car for years to come now hopefully.
