Just picked the car up from my local Merc Specialist Garage, in the shop as despite filling up the adblue tank with 23 litres of the product the countdown to engine lockdown was still on my dash along with the engine light. Explained to me by garage letting taken get to the warning message is a bad idea! This necessitates a costly programme code reset. Lesson learnt. Ps can advise can I replace an electric window switch with disassembly of the entire door panel and fittings? Have a faulty window switch and quoted £274 to replace it! Can by parts on eBay for £40

Adblue is a bad idea full stop, the system is too fragile and parts are too expensive. I wish you luck with it but there's a good reason why thousands of remappers are offering adblue deletes all over the UK.

Crxp system.. Simple. Fannies on to owners by makers, not just benz. Causes owners. Much avoidable stress and considerable expense. Cannot be called a quality product. All fixed properly by forcing makers to provide lengthy warranties on system components thus likely to mean system designed with quality over cost... Applicable to many many modern car pts.
I reluctantly deleted mine along with another shxte design egr AND PLASTIC inlet manifolds.
I am not a fan of deviating from std. But then I am even less fond of being herded into a cost corner due to , unfit for purpose makers designs, which if for warded most would have avoided in the first place
In short ref above makers knowingly sold us a dud.

Maybe that's the big plan - produce cars that breakdown at the drop of a hat and then they don't produce harmful emissions whilst broken o_O

The line was crossed for me when they introduced the 500 mile countdown to an engine no-start ADBLUE default I’d probably be sat in a S213 400d if it wasn’t for that
Pretty much same. 2 x on trips to France 500 to go when 501 from ferry port basically means such a car is practically unworkable unless one has a taste for EU recover dramas. System shud have a 2,3 times owner override facility its f easy to be doing 3,4 k miles on Europe holiday.

Gov don't make the stuff that falls to bits every 5 min and costs a grand plus to sort out.

I've been considering for a while that as legislation causes manufacturers to develop greater numbers of planet saving tech, that the manufacturers pass the disadvantages to us as testing Guinea pigs that suffer another tax on failure.
Manufacturer recovers some of the r&d costs,
Gov't's see their revenues boosted,
we are stuffed again.

But look 10 or 15 years down the line and the NHS costs should fall, as we will be walking much more.
It'll be faster than sitting in the traffic congestion as we do now, that still gets worse daily.
And certainly faster after the cars ECU says that's your lot pal.

even petrol cars have extra anti pollution measures on them now , MY depending of course
Yes, but GPFs (Gasoline Particulate Filters) are far less trouble than DPFs and there is no AdBlue needed.

Whilst not getting involved I really hope class actions giv benz and others ****** noses over rubbish emissions kit and equally rubbish software, after all makers keep telling us WE don't own the software that runs our cars, almost an admission of liability. No? If they own it its their prob to ensure its fit for purpose.
