Has anyone had similar problem with their Mercedes?
I drive 2017 e class 220d. I got check engine light on I think it’s to do with adblue. Car isn’t reading adblue measurement. As I put 10L adblue in today and still the sign coming up as “cannot read fluid measurements. However car drives fine itself. Also no message popped up to top up adblue as it use to. Just shows 0 adblue. Is it to do with dpf or any nox sensor? What the problem can be?

On my SCL250d after filling with Addblue you have to turn the ignition on wait about 10 seconds then switch off. That then resets the readings.

Hello and welcome,
It’s going to need diagnosis to really understand what’s going on. I’m guessing there’s no Mercedes warranty on the car so a decent indie is what you’ll need. There’s quite a few on here and if you post your location you’ll no doubt get some recommendations

Hi no there isn’t warranty anymore as it finished this year in November. I think I’m going to take it to Mercedes and see what they say. Thank you for your help.

Mercedes will charge a diagnostic fee of >£100 then the bills can really start. The AdBlue system can be very expensive to repair. Please keep the forum updated as it’s still a fairly new system and it’s nice to hear what issues are

it probably needs a recall for emissions.... and before that there was probably a software update or level sensor replacement on the adblu system...

you're in for some fun. the recall, nox sensors and adblu system are all intertwined with lots of strange issues and what drives the failure of which first will be something the dealer will want you to pay for each of every step of the way

cars with ad blu can get to the stage where if it believes its too low it will deliberately fail to start to protect the ad blu system / environment

Update on my car.
Had the computer plugged in and the code is coming up as.
“ the power supply is too low. There is a general failure.
“ the power supply is outside the valid range. The limit for electrical stage has not been attained.
However booked in for Mercedes dealership to do a proper diagnosed for Monday and they said it might be nox sensor. And there are 2 sensors each one costs £372+vat.

No. I think it’s a common problem with nox sensors. Because the car only done 43k. But mostly il probably try getting nox sensors cleaned from specialist garage. As Mercedes dealership charge £107 just for the diagnostic.

It’s becoming a very common issue in the forum after a software update at Mercedes... nox sensor fail and £££ bill

get the battery fully charged, the last thing you need is them making up rubbish to up the bill - and read through various posts about the unfortunate software issues inside many Mercedes ECUs on the tractors,

these have all been part of the fun

Ad-blu level issues (common on 2016 2017 year or so cars), I thought it was both a level sensor failure and then a software update

DPF re-gen issues, I think 6 iterations of DPF sensor before the latest part worked with a software update and re-gen works well

NOx sensor issues, three iterations of sensor Mk1 works poorly and seems to fail to time (about your lifetime ! some go at 30k and 4 years), Mk2 didn't work, Mk3 does, but needs three software patches for the car
a) fixes the parts list to give you the current spec part
b) reflash of the SCR to suit the new sensor (SCR is part of the ad blu system !!)
c) reflash of the engine ECU to suit the new way of working for ad blu and a properly functioning upgraded NOx sensor

Engine ECU dieselgate fix - outstanding recall - I believe it really needs all above fixed to be successful - check Merc website and or DVLA

https://www.mercedes-benz.co.uk/passengercars/being-an-owner/total-recall.html
or
https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall

At the end of that using the final software iterations.... Dieselgate for you should be over and you end up with a car that finally meets the homologation rules for how they sold it under EU law

- play your cards right and it should come out free, get it wrong they'll keep £1k

when you get the car back it will run a bit strange for 100 miles as it settles down and re learns adaptions (the SCR gets wiped after the update as should the engine ECU, even the gear change may seem odd) - probably all the complaints everyone is moaning about, is really the DPF doing a successful re-gen for the first time in its life and the car settling back to its needed adaptions)

"adaptions" are minor software tweaks the car makes to itself on the engine and gearbox. Its to optimise how its behaving to suit the build quality it had, wear and tear that's happened, and fuel spec used. Its unique to each specific vehicle and develops during its lifetime.

it would help if dealers informed people about the need to expect it to run a bit odd and drive gently as it settles down. The kinder you do it the better it builds the appropriate tweaks... rather than a panic as the driver abuses it and leans closer to failsafe major change, rather than the perfect optimisation you want !!!

Thnks for this, especially the vehicle performance post recall. Very much appreciated.

Its simply time benz stood up and recalled all cars known to suffer this issue and fix them properly. Only then will we see a permanent fix . Basically many have been sold a substandard product.

Update
Had diagnosed today by Mercedes, cost me £280 just for the diagnosed. they said it took them 3hrs to find the problem. The problem with my adblue is that it needs new adblue delivery pump. Mercedes will charge £1900 to replace the part. They said part itself is for £1000 and labour £900.

my friend had similar problem with adblue but his been fixed with software update.
I will never recommend anyone to buy this piece of ****. I paid 25k nd just over a year how can adblue pump fail? I only did 20k on clock overall it’s done 44k. It feels like you end up spending same amount of money over the years on these luxury cars. If you’re paying 25k for a car, u hope it’ll last for few years before any problems starts to happen but that’s not the case.

At that age/mileage of car you should be asking MB for a significant contribution.

You should have as suggested provided your location so someone could recommend a merc independent near you. Such independents get trade discount on parts and charge much less in labour.

BUT with newer cars and modern systems MB is sometimes better for diags as they have the latest information

Well won’t be taking it to Mercedes to get the part changed! I’ve been told there Mercedes specialist in Reading. So would be taking my car to them and let them have a look. But seriously so disappointed with Mercedes. I’d probably write a complaint letter to Mercedes head office.

Requires 10 yr warranty to get makers to make all this rubbish to a better standard. Until then it's down to IF maker feels like dealing with it.
Personally I will try to maintain it but if I get major issue before selling it I Will be going for the Russian solution. Don't tell me this shxxe costs Benzz 1000 to make and 900 to fit. It's just an entrapment /cash cow thing.
The whole emissions issue on a number of makers requires a class action case, sponsored thru UK emissions authorities. The cars get fixed and the state keep the damages. And I would not let makers who had been " at it" sell cars in the UK until all outstanding issues, crap illegal software, unreliable equipment. Was sorted out.
