Well won’t be taking it to Mercedes to get the part changed! I’ve been told there Mercedes specialist in Reading. So would be taking my car to them and let them have a look. But seriously so disappointed with Mercedes. I’d probably write a complaint letter to Mercedes head office.
Yes, Star- Ian will look after you !

As John says @star will look after you if you go and see them,

I had the same issue, and I had the car only a few months. I live in East London, and there's a guy in Hainult that will have any second hand mercedes you need. I bought a second hand ad blue tank for 300 and got it fitted at a specialist. Bear in mind second hand, you don't know when it will fail again. Absolute joke, I will never buy a mercedes again.

I would be hesitant to use second hand parts for parts that have a known weak point.
Sometimes MB supersede the part, rectifying the fault.

An issue unfortunately with new "systems" where the customer is the guniea pig.

MB cars are cheap to buy and not the cheapest to maintain if done right. If well looked after they are great cars.

It's not just a Mercedes issue, it's an emissions issue on modern diesels...

Suck you in then pull yr trousers down is the experience that often comes to mind . Its a different world now.we must do plenty of research before buying any car now. Just walkin round the show room and sitting in car is not enough..not much of an issue if yr leasing..

Thats where the model is as thats where the turnover and revenue is TBF.
Merc don't care about the customer like they used to. I got my W124 brand new, service and everyhing in them days was amazing. I am still a customer but one sees how they have changed over the years. The loyal customer is nothing more than a number. Thats pretty much everywhere now tbf.

Yr not wrong.the new business plan is attch customer by bungee to cc machine.
There will be some old school places where owner has not yet retired and a few indies with a customer loyalty base, thats it . Youngsters want toys in car...(iphone generation ) 100. To gallon, never look under bonnet (no point ,cant see engine anyway ).and are rarely thinking long term ownership ,so dont think long on repair issues.. benz today and most others are marketing to them and hauling them in to the point that they expect it to be the way it is.

Update, I emailed Mercedes head office regarding the problem, Mercedes of Guildford called and they said Mercedes are happy to cover up to 72percent of the price. So il have to pay £600+ instead of £1900.

That's something. Myself I still think the whole issue is a Benz unreliable design I can't believe this kit cost them more than 100 to make so, I think Benz supplying solution to you near foc but yr still getting labor bill to change badly designed kit.
Wot to do.

well I did say get in touch with MB, surprised you didn after being so determined never to go to MB again.

Get it done at that price and be done with it with the knowledge the work/parts are warranted.

Tbh if they didn’t offer me any discount I would’ve never gone to them to get the car fixed! £1900 just to fix the pump. They wanted me to pay 1k for the part nd £900 for labour!! How ridiculous.... and local Mercedes dealer didn’t even offer me any discount I had to email head office, which is in Netherlands to get their response... local Mercedes reply was you’re not under warranty and there nothing we can do to help...

Btw does anyone know any good extended warranty companies beside the main dealers? Because it’s not worth me going to main dealers to get car serviced for £650 and pay £800 for extended warranty...

Protection4cars, they cover private and also commercial cars I.e taxis, private hire etc. They pretty much cover everything apart from your regular service items but all major parts are covered.

Have you ever used them? Does the car need to be serviced by a main dealer to stay under warranty or can it be serviced by any local garage? Because most of the warranty company only cover you if you get serviced from main dealers...

Update
Had diagnosed today by Mercedes, cost me £280 just for the diagnosed. they said it took them 3hrs to find the problem. The problem with my adblue is that it needs new adblue delivery pump. Mercedes will charge £1900 to replace the part. They said part itself is for £1000 and labour £900.

my friend had similar problem with adblue but his been fixed with software update.
I will never recommend anyone to buy this piece of ****. I paid 25k nd just over a year how can adblue pump fail? I only did 20k on clock overall it’s done 44k. It feels like you end up spending same amount of money over the years on these luxury cars. If you’re paying 25k for a car, u hope it’ll last for few years before any problems starts to happen but that’s not the case.
Absolute Disgrace, not a bit wonder people are bypassing AdBlue, DPF devices when they are cash cows for manufacturers

I use them but have not made a claim and at no point on the phone when I took out the policy did they mention i had to service only from main dealer.

It’s becoming a very common issue in the forum after a software update at Mercedes... nox sensor fail and £££ bill

Mmm

Seems my decision to ignore the Recall till I saw what would develope might have paid off.

Had a couple of friends that had their VAG cars “fixed” under a recall.

And both had drivability issues and one had to replace his EGR shortly afterwards

Both cars were average mileage, well maintained and just over 3 years old at the time.

They have both since got rid
